Say It Right: The Number “Thousand”

Knowing the the place value of a number is good. It should be noted in this post that the Arabic and Mandarin version technically denote “one thousand.”

French: Mille.
Spanish: Mil.
Arabic: ألف. (numeral: ١٠٠٠)
Mandarin: 一千. [Pinyin: Yī qiān .]*
English: Thousand.
