Go Vote: These Ridesharing Apps Are Offering Discounts to the Polls

In keeping with Election Day and Lyft tradition, Lyft and others again will offer half off rides for voters flocking to the polls.

Numerous ridesharing companies are doubling down on the effort to get out the vote this year (and so have we), offering 30-50% off a trip to local voting stations.

Uber offers the biggest discount for round-trip transportation to the polls, though Lyft offers the largest single-trip discount to make your voice heard.

However you get there, here are the options:

Uber

Uber is offering up to 50% off each ride (up to $7 per, for a maximum of $14) to get to and from local polling stations. In order to qualify for the discount, users must use the in-person poll finder within the app.

Here are the full terms and conditions:

The promo is valid from 12:01am PT on November 3, 2020, to 3am PT on November 4, 2020. Max discount of $7 off each ride, for a maximum of two rides. The discounts will be automatically applied when you request your ride by using the polling finder. The offer applies in the US only, but does not apply to California, Puerto Rico, nor Michigan. Applies on all ride options, including bikes and scooters.

Via

Via is offering 30% off Election Day rides with code VOTEWITHVIA. Currently, it is slightly unclear what the terms and conditions are.

Lyft

For the past few years, Lyft has also supported many other public initiatives in the past, including assisting Medicaid patients get to and from appointments.  It’s one thing I have continuously admired about the company, it’s their involvement in the community.

From the official press release:

On Election Day, we are offering 50% off one ride up to $10 to any polling location or dropbox using the code 2020VOTE. For the first time, this offer also includes our network of bikes and scooters in select cities.

The promo code is valid between the hours of 4 am and 11pm local time.

By the same token, unrelated to Election Day specifically, T-Mobile customers can also check the T-Mobile Tuesdays app today for an additional $5 off any ride.

Every voice, and vote, counts; and please don’t forget, stay safe and warm out there, folks.
