CLEAR is offering a free 3-month trial of its service, in time to skip those PreCheck lines. (Because PreCheck these days is no longer quite so VIP, it would seem.)
For those not familiar, CLEAR is essentially a private-run, expedited customs screening line. The main difference is that TSA PreCheck is government run, and CLEAR can cost upwards of up to $179 per year. Though, if you're smart, and sign up for Delta SkyMiles, it's possible to get it for $99.
Regardless, the expedited security program is offering three months off, which is convenient since the summer travel season is about to ramp up. In order to sign up, use this link or use promotion code HAPPY4th by July 8, 2018.
To complete the process, travelers need to visit an enrollment center with their driver's license. Unlike Global Entry, the process takes about 5 minutes to complete with no appointment.
Since we last wrote about it, the program has expanded to about 30 airports and sports stadiums ⚽. On a quick note, it still seems like CLEAR is quite family-friendly, letting users add up to three family members for $50 each. Kids under 18 can use the lane for free.
There is no word whether the other ancillary benefits, like car rental discounts, are still available.
If you do end up liking it, One Mile at Time has pointed out that its possible to save $79 off CLEAR simply by signing up for the Delta SkyMiles program. This reduces the price down to $99 for normal folk, $79 for those with Platinum status and below, and is free for Diamond Medallion members. Sign up for that here.
