The Tool You Already Have for Ejecting a SIM Card

    Published/Updated: Jul 12, 2025 · Erica Ho · Under a minute read

I'm partially horrified 18% of readers still buy a SIM on the go, but it might pay to know there's often a simple fix for not carrying an extra tool around.

Quite simply, if you don't have a simple tool for ejecting a SIM card slot, the best tool is something that is already lying around: an earring.

Ladies, we have the edge here. Men, borrow the girlfriend's earring (or somebody else's).

Paperclips also work well, but are often less readily available. There's also an easy storage solution once done (pop it back into the ear!). Gosh, are you people also carrying a nano-SIM cutter in the travel bag?
