Never fear, Uber Shuttle is here? For a limited time only, Uber Shuttle is launching its EWR route for $15 through January 15, 2026.
Uber has been rather quietly launching its Uber Shuttle service in the New York City metro area since October 2024. Though the service is somewhat limited to Manhattan, there is some availability in Brooklyn to LaGuardia.
Here's our full take on Uber Shuttle's coverage on all the different boroughs, neighborhoods, and airports it serves all save without getting on one.
Though it is a decent option for getting to LaGuardia Airport (LGA), I personally don't think it is yet the best option for getting Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) or John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
At the current moment, Uber Shuttle only has 18 routes. The vast majority of coverage is in Manhattan, with priority for LGA, JFK, and EWR, in that order.
The only Brooklyn coverage is for LaGuardia Airport, with stops at Prospect Park, Grand Army Plaza, Atlantic Terminal and Williamsburg.
The shuttles runs from 5 am to 11pm, typically every 30 minutes with variable services during peak and off-peak hours, according to an Uber rep.
Each rider can bring on board one piece of luggage-carry-on or checked luggage-weighing up to 45 lbs and one personal item which must fit on a lap or under the seat. Additional pieces cost extra.
Booking Uber Shuttle is not the most intuitive, mostly because it requires some scroll down some!--but all it requires is the Uber app, and right after Suggestions, there is another section that says Shuttle to the airport.
It is in this section that most travelers can see the list of routes, the closest stop to them, and the estimated driving time. Though the prices range depending on the route, it seems like for the most part, they average around $20.
Personally, in my opinion, Uber Shuttle might only be really worth it for the more underserved Manhattan neighborhoods like the Financial District and Brooklyn, which is a bit of a transportation desert (from an airport point of view, at least).
Though being on the actual road is nice, I've always found that when it comes to NYC metro area, the trains are the most reliable, and I've often found myself stressed, stuck in traffic, in an Uber (ironically), on the way to the airport.
Uber Shuttle coverage by neighborhood, borough and airport
Thanks to the information provided by an Uber spokesperson, we were able to pull out which airports were served by the different neighborhoods and boroughs through Uber Shuttle.
(If you want the official route maps, here they are for LGA, EWR and JFK.)
The table below is sortable:

For some routes, travelers can join at different stops along the way, but this isn't necessarily available for every route from what we saw on the app.
How does Uber Shuttle compare to other options for getting to the airport?

Navigating airport pickups in New York City is like navigating a maze.
Though it took me years to figure out, the best options to get to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) are through NJ Transit or the Long Island Railroad (LIRR).1
Through both options, I could reach either airport in 20 minutes give or take from Penn Station. It also costs $17 and $5-7 off-peak/peak respectively for a one-way ticket!
(For the past 13 years, this is the main reason I have always tried to find an apartment within easy proximity to Penn Station. 😂)
Compare that to a $3 90-minute subway ride or an $133 Uber ride in traffic for an hour to JFK, and the choice is usually an easy one.
That said, Uber Shuttle does over shine in its connections to LaGuardia, making it a solid choice, since that airport is not as easily accessible by public transit, and does require getting on a bus.
Considering how many options Uber Shuttle has around Midtown, I'd rather opt for the train personally, as to avoid traffic, but if I was coming from a funkier spot, there's at least another option in town.
