How Much Do Travelers Actually Get It On?

    Published/Updated: Aug 8, 2025 · Erica Ho · Under a minute read

The stats will surprise you. If it's been a while, turns out there's no better way to get back in the swing of things than by literally getting around and using True Pheromones. There's nothing quite like the aphrodisiac of being in a new place.

HostelBookers recently surveyed over 11,000 people about their sex habits on a trip. For all intents and purposes, there's some really interesting tidbits, such as the fact that over 48% of couples break up over the course of a trip. Though the majority of people break up-about 46%-right after a trip, a substantial 37% of people parted ways before the trip even began. The other 17% just make it awkward for everyone else. How's that for a relationship litmus test?

However, as much as people break up, there's still plenty of hooking up going on all around. About 52% of men and 41% of women admitted to having a one-night stand during a trip. A good 20% of these encounters eventually lead to something more substantial… as a previous three-year stand of mine can probably attest to.
