The Best Reason To Use Instacart While Traveling

    Published/Updated: Dec 11, 2025 · Erica Ho · 1 minute read

It's not just for home, though I like to use it for scheduling my deliveries to arrive an hour or two after I also arrive home from the airport!

(If my flight gets delayed, I also change the scheduled delivery time. Done!)

The great news is that Instacart does deliver to hotels, even if it may not come straight to the hotel room. This can be cheaper than UberEats, especially if you are staying in a hotel that may have limited food options around.

If the hotel has a fridge and a heating option, like a microwave in the lobby, you're in a great spot. (The HOTLOGIC Mini Portable Electric Lunch Box has been one of my favorite travel purchases of all time if you don't have access to a microwave.)

Even if a fridge is all you've got, and you just want to stock up on some salads, yogurt, and fruit and cold cuts to get you by during the day, then Instacart is a convenient and more affordable option than other delivery services.

(If anything, all I had to do was go downstairs to the front desk to pick up my order. Whether the Instacart or front desk says anything is another story, so pay attention to the app!)

These days, if you're an Instacart+ member, the grocery order minimum is $10. For those who are not a member, it is a $35 minimum (though, apparently, if you check out with a $35 minimum, you get a $10 credit toward the next order at the moment).

Recently in Detroit, while staying at the Cambria Hotel, I ordered blackberries, two premade salads, yogurt, and a beef taco bowl from Meijer in case if I got hungry during the four days I was there.

The shopper was unable to find a few items, but the final receipt ended up being $16.36, though the initial items cost $11.37.

In my opinion, this would have been a far cheaper than if I had placed an order on UberEats, grabbed two Ubers to and from a grocery store, or gone down to the hotel restaurant, all of which would have cost at least $30.

Let's have it for Instacart 🙌
