It's a great time. Airfare prices typically fall right after Labor Day, which is now, and it's a great time to book Thanksgiving and Christmas travel.
Here's an especially pro trip: If you're finding expensive tickets for Thanksgiving, try searching for business or first class-tickets. It's slightly contrarian thinking, but they may actually be cheaper because economy tickets usually sell out first.
By October and November, expect to say sayonara to going anywhere.
