Make-A-Wish is kicking off their Trips That Transform campaign this month, and asking for donations in the form of airline miles. Million milers, we know you're out there!
The foundation is requesting United, American Airlines, Southwest, Delta, and JetBlue miles in order to assist with its wish-making program. Currently, Make-A-Wish estimates that it needs almost 3 billion airline miles and points each year to fulfill travel wishes (of course, it doesn't fulfill all of them).
Got some throwaway miles that don't quite fit in any redemption chart?
Here are some quick stats on what Make-A-Wish needs:
- Approximately 12,000 wishes in the U.S. and its territories each year involve travel
- 75 percent of Make-A-Wish wishes require air travel
- Right now, Make-A-Wish is only able to grant wishes for one out of every two eligible children
It's time to open up those bleeding hearts and (airline) pockets.
