Life is better with CLEAR. Life is also better with CLEAR when you don’t have to pay for it.
CLEAR is very different from TSA PreCheck in several ways, though when it works, CLEAR is worth having in our opinion. (Both of them are worth having, since one gets you to the front of the line, while the other makes your life easier going through security.)
Here’s how to take advantage of CLEAR's constant promotions both for new and existing members. In particular, we love applying an existing promotion especially when we know a heavy round of travel is coming up.
Through different partnerships, loyalty programs, and promotions, CLEAR is constantly offering two-month trial promotions to new and existing members. On occasion, and slightly more infrequently, the program does offer three months free.
Typically, CLEAR costs $189 per year for an individual membership, with an additional $99 per year for each additional family member. (Members under the age of 18 can be added for free!)
Some airlines, like Delta, United and Alaska, offer discounts ranging from $10 to fully comped memberships for its frequents flier members though CLEAR’s connected accounts tab.
However, if you’re paying for this on its own, it does comes down to $15.75 per month (but joining a FFP is free?!).
If you know you'll be using it a lot, and it actually works for you, it's worth paying for in the long run. That's where the trial comes into play 😉
There are plenty of free CLEAR promotions available
The process is fairly straightforward if it’s the first time signing up. Though travelers will have to go to an airport or kiosk to complete the process, the best part about it is that once it’s done, it’s done.
It is possible to cancel a CLEAR membership without removing all the information, and re-signing up or take advantage of a new promotion at a later date.
How to apply a promotion as an existing CLEAR member
Though the majority of promotions tend to apply to new members, it is still possible to apply promotions to existing and expired accounts, though it is slightly trickier.
If you have the promotional code—which can be found in terms and conditions or the URL of the landing page—then it’s more straightforward.
Though it’s not easy to find the promotional code, we’d suggest looking in the URL bar of the browser to find it. In this particular example, this is where we found it.
In a separate browser tab, log in to the existing account, and then select the Billing and Membership tab. There should be a section to enter the existing promo code.
If that doesn’t work, it is possible to email [email protected] to ask if a promotional code can be applied, which we have done in the past to great success.
Here are some active CLEAR promotional codes
There are the ones that we know off the top of our head, and they are mainly for two months.
If you know any additional ones, send us an email at [email protected]!
Of course, you won’t tell on us if we cancel before the renewal?
